Shakti Shrestha, 29, CTO of iTechies Pvt. Ltd. is a confident guy. As his profession demands, he likes to try and experiment new technologies and new way in business. He doesn’t talk much but that does not mean he is introvert. He takes active participation on discussion and professional forum which are related his business and profession. An organized type of guy who is always serious about deadline, milestone and timing, he speaks bluntly about the topic of his interest with full confident.
Born and raised in Kathmandu, he is living in parental home with one young brother, one sister and parent. His accentors are local Newar of Kathmandu. After finishing school, he started working with his father in Jeans Tailoring, to design Gents Jeans wear. “Since then I turned to workaholic”, hinting his workaholic life-style. He used to start his day at 5AM and end at 9PM at night. First half he used to be in college where he used to learn about programming and second half of day in Jeans Shop, stitching jeans which his father designed. Even these days he reached his office at 7AM and stays till 6PM, almost 13 hours in work.
He was a rank holder (first position) student in school days. Since schools days, he was so passionate about coding/programming. In 2001, when few colleges started to teach IT as academic degree in Nepal, he did not think twice to make decision. He finished BScIT degree in 2004. Recalling his past memories, he tells that he used to be restless thinking about doing something and having no concrete idea. Despite there were no market of software at that time, he used to spend nights and days on coding. He made software like accounting, game and did not sell them. Soon he realized the college degree is not sufficient to make IT career, then, prepared for Oracle certified training. He tells with pride that he and one of friend were first in Nepal to become Oracle Certified Professional.
Currently, his company specializes on automated stock trading module and government solutions. His company employs ten computer engineers and six trading experts and government bureaucrats as consultant. Established three year before, finally his company is taking shape to generate sustainable amount of revenue. He believes that from this year company will profit in double fold.
“For me family and work both value equally then it comes to money”, tells when asked about which is more valuable to him. He further elaborates, “We have to be able to manage time equally depending priority and need”. When I asked, “You spent 13 hours in office, how do you still manage to for family”, he joked “I used to go bar at 2AM, returned to work at 5AM, and then reached home at 7AM for.
