One month of EMBA

On 13th 2010, 22 managers and 3 teachers drove to Nagarkot. Driving along sloppy and curve road, we reached destination, finally.

Ace EMBA

Actually, the number 22 is students of EMBA. I said managers, that’s correct. I came to know that most of student are working in functional managerial level. It must be reason that one of eligibility criteria to get into Ace EMBA program, one should study four years.

It feels like just day before, but we already spend a month. Looking back this period of time, spent with those 30 (+) awesome people, I see lot of nice and interesting, beneficial, and also pretty scary stuffs.

During a period of a month, I learn

  1. Many things which I never know and notice
  2. Many things which I were doing without being aware why and still doing.

It transforms my life many ways:

  1. Change the way I live – kept busy 17 hrs/day.
  2. Enforce to run faster and faster. One chapter ≅ one period, next day new subject, another week another another case. Pretty same with in real-life work place.
  3. Many nights went unslept, many days uneaten. A colleague tole me “After EMBA, I never sleep full”. This applies to me.
  4. Change the work hour (start at 8:00 AM), change the lunch hour (at 12:00 PM).
  5. 70% of time, you hear echo “You as manager….. You as manager…..”

I believe, EMBA folks should have same experience, at least their life must have measurably faster.

As whole, my view about EMBA degree, once in life time you should study.

Foreign Direct Investment

Investment from another country is known as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). It can be sole investment, partnership or joint venture. In any form, investment adds productive resources to the economy, which can contribute to nation development.

FDI directly impacts economic growth. FDI has been significant to Nepal. Over the years, large companies like Surya Nepal, Dabur Nepal, Nepal Lever Ltd, Nepal SBI Bank, Himalayan Bank,  N-cell and hydro-power firms have been established in Nepal and these involve FDI. These industries generate high revenues and pay large amount of taxes. According Dept. of Industry, in FY 2064/65 B.S., FDI accounted for 10% of the fixed cost of Rs. 13.5 billion.

Did you know that companies set up with FDI employed 121,484 people until 2065 B.S., and that 6,604 new jobs were generated in FY 2064/65 alone? Jobs at companies set up with FDI are among the best paymasters.

For example FDI in Information Technology firms has created hundreds of high paying skilled jobs. Companies like D2Hwakeye, Javra Software, IT Outsourcing Asia, IT Offshore and many others are providing jobs to hundreds engineers and management graduates. I, work at IT Outsourcing Asia, European company, and have directly benefited as a result of FDI.

FDI helps social, inter-cultural and personal development by promoting exchanges among countries. With investment, people from another country always bring technologies, knowledge, culture and social values. This offers nationals an opportunity to understand other cultures and values and this can help individuals grow at the personal level. Foreign investors also take back our culture, values and style to their country. This exchange provides a FDI receiving country exposure internationally without additional efforts.

Along with helping with economic growth, FDI, therefore, is a key to provide a country and its people international exposure. Further, FDI brings international technologies, knowledge and cultural values and supports national growth.
