Google’s Caffeine – realtime search battle

In Google, SNS, real-time on August 12th, 2009

Buzzz.. in search world – “Google is launching major update after three years, Caffeine”.  After buzz of Microsoft deal with Yahoo and FriendFeed going Facebook, Google announced Caffeine Beta – faster, more accurate, larger index and most important real-time indexing of breaking news. You can test google caffeine, a upgrade version of google search engine at http://www2.sandbox.google.com/ or read analytical blog by Ben Parr at Mashable http://tinyurl.com/gcaffeine.

But interesting thing to watch in the battle-field is realtime search. Currently there are four players – Google, Bing, Facebook and Twitter. Facebook and Twitter provide realtime search based on status update which are more relevant then those of Google and Bing. After bringing friendfeed home, Facebook seems planning become more stronger. Despite that Bing doesn’t shows realtime result on its search result, it power Facebook’s realtime search.

No doubt with rise of SNS, people changed way they communicate each-other so as search trend is changing. Many people still use organic search engines but trend is growing for real-time search. But still real-time-search if part of search and serve limited objectives. Moreover it is not fine tuned for accuracy despite of some trendy topics (in Twitter). None beat google for accuracy, but we still have to see what the Google Caffeine has for realtime (with accuracy).

$900 for three “Hello world!” programs

In Misc on August 4th, 2009

$900 for three hello world programSurprised with title? No worries! it sounds surprising for me  too. Usually programmers write those piece of ‘Hello World!’ code at very beginning when they just start learning programming. So how it is possible to get paid $900 when u just know what actually the coding means.

But let me tell you fact, every programmer get paid for their ‘Hello World!’ code. Now you must have been puzzled knowing this fact. If you are programmer wrinkles must have been appeared in your face indicating your happiness. Folks, just don’t look $$ but look at other side too. It’s a fact that every programmer has to pass with pain. Pain? What!! Yes, Pain!!

A pain of study new things on every new day. Now you know what I mean huh! Yes, it’s my boring story of past month (July 09). Such boring that my some of nights went without sleeping…. yes! It’s not new for me, but still remarkable.

Actually whole month I spent studying new stuffs. At first I learn Ruby on Rails, then I study about software called JIRA made in Java, and finally Magento. In all three programs, I have written function and plugin to print ‘Hello Wrold’. Month over and pay-check is in hand. This is how I got $$ for ‘Hello world’ program. Besides that I developed couple proposal and couple of analysis but these were 10hrs job.

It is not just with me, it must have been same with all programming geeks. Everyone must have experience how painful to learn. Some may enjoy! For me, my eyes hurt, head burst, Pain in Ass (we use PIA for this term)… and so so. But I still can’t hate to learn….. I don’t know you guys love or hate.
